How do you create a healthy leadership culture in your ministry, workplace, organization, or even in your family, and why does it matter?
There’s an interesting and well-known quote from management consultant and writer Peter Druker where he states that “culture eats strategy for breakfast.” The Harvard Business Review also has this to say about organizational culture: “It shapes attitudes and behaviors in wide-ranging and durable ways. Cultural norms define what is encouraged, discouraged, accepted, or rejected within a group. When properly aligned with personal values, drives, and needs, culture can unleash tremendous amounts of energy toward a shared purpose and foster an organization’s capacity to thrive.”
Culture gives your team the parameters within which day-to-day decisions are made, relationships are nurtured, and Kingdom work is done. And you cannot create a culture you don’t live in personally. You do not lead people to become what you want them to be. You lead them from who you are in Christ and your own transformative journey.
That’s why I want to invite you to join me and some special guests for a 10-episode podcast series starting today, Tuesday, September 24th, called Leadership Culture Matters. We’ll be discussing the characteristics my staff and I use at Church at The Mill, as well as why and how you can intentionally create the right culture for you and the people you lead.
